💻Computer Aided Design💻

This post would consist of 2 entries. The making of the Keychain and the making of a Phone stand using Fusion 360.

Tutorial 1: Refresher Activity (18/1/21)

Objective: Design and make our own Keychain using Fusion 360.

Step 1: Launch Fusion 360 and Press Sketch.

Step 2 : Sketch a rectangle with the dimension 65 mm x 25 mm

Step 3 : Fillet the corner of the rectangle by 5 mm

Step 4 :Offset the shape by -2mm

Step 5 : Construct a construction line 7 mm away from the side

Step 6 : Construct a center diameter circle of 5mm in the center of the line

Step 7 : Add text or design onto the keychain by pressing the text feature under create

Step 8 : Extrude the edges by 3 mm and the text by 2 mm and you should obtain the final results!

Reflection
This keychain activity served as a good way to recap what I learned in ICPD last semester on Fusion 360 especially since over the holiday, most of us would naturally forget how to use it. Initially i struggled a little since I had forgotten most of the function that Fusion 360 offers. However, after a few trial and errors, I finally got the hang of it which really helped me in the design process of the phone stand below.

Tutorial 2 : Designing Handphone Stand (25/1/21)

Objective: Design a simple handphone stand that can be made using laser cutting.

Step 1 ; Launch Fusion 360 and press Sketch

Step 2 : Set the parameter by clicking onto modify

Step 3 : Create a Rectangle with the parameters L x B

Step 4 : Create a second Rectangle with the parameters L2 x B

Step 4 : From the bottom of Rectangle 1, add a construction line with the length of 73mm and a construction line with the length of 112.097mm from the top

Step 5 : Draw a rectangle at the construction lines with a dimension of 15.109mm by 50mm

Step 6 : Cut out the rectangle by using the function trim

Step 7 : Draw a construction line on Rectangle 2 with a length of 75mm from the bottom and 60.196mm from the top

Step 8 : Draw a rectangle at the construction line with a dimension of 14.8mm x 50 mm

Step 9 : cut out the Rectangle using the trim function

Step 10 : Using a construction line, draw a circle that is 30.223mm from the top with a diameter of  18.1mm

Step 11 : Extrude the thickness by 14.8 mm

If All the steps above are done correctly, it should look similar to :

Next, I decided to try and assemble the pieces using the function Components and joints to form the following :

Reflection
Through this activity of making our own handphone design, I am able to better use the parameter function better then before and it proved to be a good experience for me to practice the skills I learned in Fusion 360. Additionally, I also learned about how to create components as well ass joints in order to attach pieces of my phone stand design together. In conclusion, this activity is very engaging and allows me to use my creativity and fusion 360 skills to design new stuff out of nothing and i hope that i will be able to use this skill for personal use in the future!
